Valley Forge

Valley Forge song notes

Valley Forge is a song of the harshness of the conditions at the Battle of Valley Forge, during the American Revolutionary War. In war, many times the conditions, the weather, the lack of supplies and food, the defeat, and the desperation that soldiers have and must endure, is worse than the actual battles themselves. This has been true throughout the ages, and even in modern day battle. Hearing of and seeing news of decimated cities, and conditions that must be endured during war, was an inspiration for the song as well.

When I read about the Battle of Valley Forge, I found the story quite inspiring, realizing survival and endurance, and internal will, fighting for a cause, and defeated expectations that others will come to the rescue, are powerful, in war and in life.
