“Happy Trails” song notes

“Happy Trails” is a well known song, covered by many. It was intended to lighten the story, which ends in a depressing chain of events, and to wish people well in life. We’ve all been through some tough times, and this represents encouragement to try to maintain a positive outlook. It is a farewell to the listener, a farewell to the characters, and an invitation to join me, or anyone we may meet to join in camaraderie on life’s next adventure. Musically, it felt like an appropriate and kind ending to this western folk ballad.
