“Running Out Of Time” song notes

“Running Out Of Time” was written as a flashback song to explore the beginnings of trauma, and revenge to deal with he effect of the trauma. It introduces some historical information, and is a classic scenario of many western sagas, and many movie plots. The main character and/or their family is harmed, threatened, or killed, and the survivor/victim becomes the protagonist, and needs to avenge the wrong doing. In this case though, the sheriff avenges his trauma by apprehending or killing bad people, and the gunslinger/outlaw avenges his trauma by inflicting harm or killing others, and embraces his sociopathic style of life. In their actions, both characters are finding an outlet for their hurt, and aggression is one path they can take. The outro was to further elaborate and embrace the chaos they have created.

“Running Out Of Time” was to utilize a common unfortunate theme, that we are all running out of time, and there is only so much time to accomplish whatever we are compelled to do, good or bad, simply or lofty.
